The chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr Chidi Lloyd on Wednesday handed over a Nissan pickup truck to the local government security outfit; Emohua local government area vigilante services (EMOVIS).
Dr Lloyd said the local government council donated the patrol vehicle to enhance the operations of the vigilante services; to enable members of the security outfit respond swiftly to emergency situations across the local government area.
The council chairman noted the sacrifices made by members of the local government security outfit to ensure that the already existing peace and security in area is sustained, while promising to provide more logistic support to the vigilante services.
Iyked by the increasing rate of illegal oil bunkering activities within the local government area, the council chairman directed the vigilante services to initiate a strong synergy with the security agencies to identify and apprehend the bunkers and their collaborators for immediate prosecution in line with relevant laws.
The commander of Emohua local government area vigilante services, ASP Godwin Ikenga (Rtd), who received the vehicle, thanked the council chairmen for the donation and promised to effectively use the vehicle to produce the desired result in the fight against crime and criminality in Emohua local government area.
He regretted the involvement of government security personnel in the illegal oil bunkering activities but reiterated the vigilante’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents and visitors across Emohua local government area.
The vigilante commander further assured that the security outfit was going to work in synergy with the taskforce on illegal oil bunkering and security agencies to checkmate the activities of oil bunkers, while calling for the cooperation of stakeholders and residents of the area to end the menace of illegal oil bunkering across Emohua local government area.
